The sunny village of Falzes/Pfalzen  (1022m) together with Issing and Greinwalden and the hamlets Platten (1,586m) and Kofl (1,487 m) were already known for its sunshiny position at Roman times. The ancient settlements have always lied on the sunny side of the mountain and valleys were considered as dangerous. There were floods, epidemics and they could be attacked or conquered easily. Since the beginning of time, Falzes/Pfalzen has been high up in every respect and it is a village rich in tradition with rural life, crafts and some tourism. 

Historical background:
The original name of Falzes/Pfalzen was probably „Phalenza“, which derived from the Latin term Palatium. It is assumed that a Roman fort had been built there at Roman times.
The beautiful old residence of Sichelburg got its name from the two sickles of the emblem of the owners Platzoller. The residence was also incorporated into the emblem of Falzes/Pfalzen. We are proud of our country. In former times there was little work in our region and young people left the country to work as artists and craftsmen in the big wide world. Those who had the home in their heart were the lucky ones. The home country gives you roots and makes you strong but not wanton.
